Galway International Oyster Festival

Friday 27th to Sunday 29th, September

 

The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival is an annual three day event held each year on the last weekend of September in the centre of Galway City. A highlight in the west of Ireland’s festival calendar, it is the world’s longest running Oyster Festival and one of the most internationally recognised Irish events.

The 2019 event takes place from Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th 2019 at the Nimmos Pier Marquee.

During this popular food festival, you can expect to experience a wide variety of tantalising events to enjoy from seafood trails, oyster hot spots, oyster opening (shucking) championships including the Oyster ‘Olympics’ or World Oyster Opening Championship, foodie talks & tasting events in some of Galway’s finest restaurants, food provenance tours, sample delights at the intimate food village at The Festival Marquee, a Mardi Gras style Gala Event through the streets of Galway, Best Dressed Lady competition, the Tribal Oyster Feast Off oyster eating competition along with family activities, live music, cooking demonstrations, ‘Hot Oyster Awards’ cooking challenge and more..

Galway Jazz Festival

Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 6th, October 

 

The Galway Jazz Festival returns for its 14th year. The three-day Festival will feature some of the leading names in jazz and improvisation, as well as talks and film screenings.Shows to be held in An Taibhdhearc, Druid Theatre, The Black Cat in Salthill, the Meyrick Hotel, The Electric Garden, various schools in the city and county, as well as public spaces around the city.

It features musicians from 14 countries, playing more than 50 events, across 20 different venues in the city. The opening concert by the much lauded Viennese Radio.String.Quartet in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church in association with Music for Galway.

Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway

Tuesday 22nd to Monday 28th, October

 

The Vodafone Comedy Carnival runs from the 22nd to 28th October and will present leading Irish and international comics, improv, theatre, mime, table quizzes, photography, hip hop, and much more.

Headline acts will be confirmed in September 2019, but to give you a flavour of what to expect, last years acts at the 2018 Vodafone Comedy Carnival included Dylan Moran, Sean Lock, Reginald D Hunter, Jason Byrne, Rich Hall, Milton Jones, Gina Yashere, Joel Dommett, Rhys Darby, Enya Martin, Al Murray and Dermot & Dave to name only a few.

Ireland’s largest comedy festival will feature more than 100 acts, performing in 75 shows, across 18 venues, including at the now iconic Spiegeltent, located in the Eyre Square Comedy Village.
