One of the best things about an Irish summer must be enjoying a BBQ with family and friends. Our Head Chef Adrian Bane has shared a few of his tips on how to have a successful BBQ.

  • Always use charcoal.
  • Light your charcoal 1 hour, before you want to use it to allow the coals to get white hot.
  • Add some wood chips at the end to impart more flavour to your food.
  • Do not place the hot dogs on the hottest part of the grill, as they can burn on the outside and may be still raw on the inside.
  • Move them regularly so they cook on all sides.
  • Put the lid on the BBQ for the first 3 minutes to add a smokey flavour to your food.
  • Toast the Buns on the BBQ.
  • Serve with something spicy like an Irish Mustard & something cooling like an Apple & Red Cabbage Slaw.

Adrian's favourite item is a BBQ Hot Dog and he uses local stout and onion sausages which are the same ones as those on the BBQ menu at the Galmont Hotel & Spa, Galway.
