It is simply impossible not to notice the flags, the shop windows, the bunting as you walk down the streets of Galway City.
They all say one thing: "Galway 2020". It is an amazing show of support and we cannot but imagine it will impress the judging panel during their trip to Galway next month.
The Bid book has been submitted and the ideas about what to do are coming in thick and fast from young and old throughout the city and towns in the county.
We can see plain walls transformed such as that at the Docks or at the bottom of Quay Street.
There have been displays at soccer matches and Gaelic matches and the St Patricks Day Parade. It is safe to say even our neighbours Mayo have joined in and support our bid even if it at first there was bemused looks at Pearse Stadium last summer when the volunteers asked Mayo fans to back Galway.
Praise must go to the volunteers who are out day after day informing the public about the bid.
It is unthinkable that the city does not win as this chance will not come our way again until 2035 so lets grasp it now and do what we can.
This bid has shown what can be done when everyone works together for the good of the city and county.
These are indeed great times in Galway with our footballers beating Mayo, Connacht Rugby winning their first ever Guinness Pro 12 and of course some balmy weather.
Watch this video as it explains better than words and share it on your social media, decorate your home or business or maybe even volunteer over the next 2 weeks.
The city will be ensured a bright future with some €45m in funding and an anticipated 15% increase in visitor numbers.
We love Galway now lets do our bit for Galway 2020. We at the Radisson Blu in Galway are backing the bid #ibackgalway.
