Galway International Arts Festival
Every July, Galway transforms into a buzzing hub of creativity during the Galway International Arts Festival (GIAF). From July 14th–27th 2025,the city comes alive with over 500 artists and performers from around the world. Since starting in 1978, GIAF has grown into one of Europe’s most exciting arts festivals, offering a dynamic mix of theatre, music, visual art, comedy, and street spectacle.
One of the festival’s biggest highlights is the iconic Big Top at Fisheries Field - a huge tented venue that hosts thrilling headline concerts and must-see performances like the jaw-dropping circus show Sabotage. Around the city, you’ll find giant sculptures, surreal art installations, and free street shows that surprise and delight. The Festival Garden in Eyre Square is the perfect place to relax between events, with food stalls, live DJs, and a friendly festival buzz. Whether you're catching a world premiere, dancing at the Big Top, or wandering through the vibrant streets, GIAF turns Galway into a creative wonderland each summer.
